Five Lessons We Learned As South Korea Lost To Ghana.

Ghana battled hard against South Korea and was rewarded with a narrow 3-2 win to give them hope ahead of the final round of matches.

Mohammed Kudus scored a brace whilst Salisu added another to seal the victory for Otto Addo’s side.

Here are the five talking points from the game.

Black Stars can actually reach the knockout stages

Ghana desperately needed all three points to keep their hosts from making the knockout round alive.

They had recorded a narrow 3-2 defeat against Portugal but there was hope for something positive.

And they provided it. Despite a nervy end to the game, Otto Addo’s men held on and got the needed result.

The performance overall was a good one, an indication of Ghana’s huge potential on the global stage. Watch out round of 16, here the Black Stars come.

Team concentration has to be checked

Ghana was cruising by the time the second half began. They were leading by two goals to nil.

But the defence went to sleep for a brief period and paid dearly, conceding two goals to make the scoreline 2-2.

That should worry fans as Ghana prepares for a clash with Uruguay later in the week.

The team needs to be focused on every minute to avoid situations like this in the future.

Mohammed Kudus is a superstar in waiting

Enough has been said about Mohammed Kudus. He showed how special he was at Nordsjaelland, how special he is at Ajax and he’s showing it in Qatar.

The midfielder was everything Ghana needed; goals, dribbling and playmaking abilities.

If Ghana are to go further in the tournament, they will need the magic Kudus provides on a daily basis.

Lawrence Ati Zigi silenced critics

Before the final squad was announced by Otto Addo, many didn’t expect to see Ati Zigi much less being the first choice of the team.

But, following injuries to Richard Ofori and Joseph Wollacott, the coach entrusted the key role to the St. Gallen man.

Against South Korea, he was absolutely clutch. Despite conceding twice, he made key saves to keep Ghana in the game.

The team has him to thank for the three points.

Jordan Ayew deserves some plaudits

Jordan Ayew has divided opinion among Ghanaians for years due to subpar performances in some games.

Against Portugal, many fans called for his exile following two key mistakes leading to goals for the opponents.

Despite that, Otto Addo gave the Crystal Palace man the chance and he delivered.

The 30-year-old got an assist and was a thorn in Korea’s side for most of the game. He deserves his flowers for this one.
