In a recent speech addressing the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi, regarding the decision by the Western countries to teach children that they can change their gender, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin referred to the practice as “monstrous.”

“(It is a) simply monstrous moment when children are pushed to believe from early on that a boy can easily become a girl, and vice versa. They are pushed to believe they have a choice, imposed while parents are swept aside. And a child is forced to make a decision that can break their life.” Putin said.

He further referred to the engagement of children in such act as “terrible” and a crime against humanity which the west keeps masquerading under the guise of development. “Calling a spade, a spade, this is close to a crime against humanity dressed up in the name and under the flag of progress.”

Vladimir Putin has been on record for his firm position when it comes to LGBTQ which remains banned in Russia. During a meeting with state commission discussing changes to Russia’s constitution in the year 2020, Putin made it clear that, LGBTQ will never be legalized as far as he remains president.

He stated that He does not and will not support the subversion of the traditional notion of family values and gender identities. “As far as ‘parent number 1’ and ‘parent number 2’ goes, I’ve already spoken publicly about this and I’ll repeat it again: As long as I’m president this will not happen. There will be dad and mum.” Putin said.

Unlike Putin who can say such things and stand firm without any significant harassment, African politicians are mostly persecuted and threatened with sanctions including travel bans in a bid to force them to legalize LGBTQ against their laws and societal values.

Currently, Western diplomats are pushing the agenda in Ghana as the west African country prepares to pass a bill to curb the practice and promotion of LGBTQ in the country. Local media reported that, Lawmakers were denied visa’s and openly threatened. What do you think African politicians should do to stop such harassment from the west?
