The Black Meteors of Ghana got pummelled 6-0 by Japan in an international friendly Saturday morning.

The match – which is the first of games with the Olympic teams of Japan and South Korra over the next 10 days – was held at Best Denki Stadium Stadium in Fukuoka.

Ritsu Doan opened the scoring on 16 minutes with a half volley from inside the box after goalkeeper William Essau blocked an initial shot into his path.

Real Madrid attacker Takefusa Kubo then doubled the lead when he was found free in the Meteors area in the 32nd minute.

An attempt by Frank Assinki to block a pass saw the centre-back turn the ball into his own net in the 44th minute, making it 3-0.

Japan continued on the front pedal in the second half.

Yuki Soma increased their tally within three minutes.

It turned 5-0 in the 56th minute when Ayase Ueda completed a well-worked attack with a free header.

Ghana’s only brightest moment came in the 74th minute when Osman Bukari enjoyed a solo run from his own half but had his final strike blocked for a corner kick.

Kaoru Mitoma then completed the 6-0 mauling in the 89th minute after a sweet build-up play.

The Black Meteors next face South Korea twice on June 12 and 15 in Jeju.
