Supreme Court Orders Anas To Appear In Court Without Mask

0

The Supreme Court of Ghana has ordered investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to appear in court to testify in the case against former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi for his documentary titled ‘Number 12’ which uncovered rots in Ghana football, without being accorded any special privilege.

The Supreme Court presided over by Justice Baffoe-Bonnie gave the order Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

The order may likely affect his privilege to cover his entire face with a mask.

This order by the apex court quashes an earlier application granted by the High Court that permitted Anas to testify in camera.

This development comes after Mr Nyantakyi filed an application at the highest court of the land challenging the High court ruling.

Mr Nyantakyi is facing trial at the high court for his alleged involvement in corruption as captured in the documentary but the High Court said Anas was allowed to testify in camera.

Mr Nyantaky challenged the ruling at the Supreme Court, resulting in the order that investigative journalists should not be given any special privileges.
