Nana Ampadu To Get State Burial

Director of Communications at the President Eugene Arhin has announced the approval of a state burial for late highlife musician Nana Ampadu.

He said the President took the decision to honour the late musician for what he had achieved.

Addressing the media at the Jubilee House on Thursday (11 November), Eugene Arhin, the director of communications at the Office of the President said, “The president has taken the decision to honour the late legendary highlife musician Nana Kwame Ampedu with a state-assisted burial in honour of his services to the growth of Ghanaian music.

“This information will be duly communicated to the family of the late singer and a befitting burial ceremony will be organized for this noble singer of Ghana.”

Nana Ampadu was born on 31 March 1945 in Obo-Kwahu in the Eastern Region.

He is credited with numerous popular highlife tracks and is reported to have composed over 800 songs.
