In a Facebook post sighted by News On Ghana, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has responded to the ongoing call made by concerned Ghanaians to the government to “Fix The Country Now”.

Hashtag ‘Fix The Country Now’ started as a social media campaign to call on the government to fix the problems in the nation. The campaign has been welcomed by many including celebrities but also rejected by many. A demonstration was planned to take place as part of the campaign but the permission was denied by the authorities on the basis that covid-19 protocols would not be followed in such event.

Among those finding the campaign uncalled for is the VEEP Bawumia who took it to his Facebook account to present works being done or in the process of being done on the topic of fixing problems of the country.

OUR RECORD OF FIXING PROBLEMS

We are four months into our four year mandate. The job of government is to fix problems. This is what we have been doing since 2017. The COVID-19 pandemic has slowed down the global economy and caused increases in prices of commodities such as oil, cement and iron rods as well as overall cost of shipping. Nevertheless, it is very important to place the performance of our government over the last four years after inheriting an economy with “no meat on the bone” on record. Ours is a government that listens and cares. The facts and data speak for themselves.

Trust President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

#HeIsFixingIt” he wrote.

He went further to attach a long list of problems he claims the current government he’s serving in had to come to meet and has either fixed or has been in the process of fixing.
