Facebook said its working to get its suite of apps – including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger – working ‘as quickly as possible’ after users report outages

WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger are down.

  • DownDetector reported crashes beginning around 1:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
  • “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,” Facebook told Insider.

Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger apps crashed on Friday.

“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing some services across the Facebook family of apps,” a Facebook spokesperson told Insider. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

The Facebook-owned sites and Messenger appeared to go down around 1:30 p.m. ET, according to DownDetector . Facebook’s desktop site appeared to be working.


The outage appeared to impact users in numerous countries, including Mexico and India, according to comments on DownDetector.
