Fabulous Ladies player Rabi Musa has been handed a one-year ban over referee assault

Fabulous Ladies player Rabi Musa has been handed a one-year ban by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from all football-related activities.

The WPL player was charged by the GFA Prosecutor for assaulting referee Faizatu Japka during a Women’s Premier League game against Kumasi Sports Academy.

During the match which was played at the Ejisu Okese Park on February 27, 2021, Rabi verbally and physically abused referee Faizatu Japka, an act which was deemed to have breached the laws of the game and the regulations of the association.

The Committee found that Rabi rushed on the Referee with insults after a penalty was awarded against her team and was given a red card.

The Committee added that the Match Commissioner in her report stated that the coach of Fabulous Ladies Nana Atuahene with some of his players rushed to the match official and Rabi “punched the referee’s forehead which resulted in the Referee’s inability to continue the match and the fourth official taking charge till the game ended”.

Sanctions

She has now been banned from taking part in all football-related activities from April 13, 2021, to April 12, 2022, in accordance with Article 12(4) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee has also handed her fine of five thousand Ghana cedis (GHc5,000.00) – three thousand Ghana cedis (GHc3,000.00) of which is suspended due to the player’s plea for leniency leaving a fine of two thousand Ghana cedis (GHc2,000.00) to be paid.
