Africa World Airlines, on Thursday, April 15, 2021, received a rousing welcome at the Ho Airport as the airline test flew the route ahead of the commencement of commercial flights to the Airport.

The company is set to start plying the route three weeks from now.

Aside from the green plains and beautiful landscape that welcomed the flight, hundreds of residents led by Chiefs and the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa thronged the Ho airport to welcome the flight.

The flight had 36 passengers made up mostly of the leadership of the Africa World Airlines company including its Executive Chairman and Paramount chief of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV.

Dressed in his ceremonial Captain’s dress, Togbe Afede said the future looks bright for commercial flights to Ho.

“That we will benefit from a Ho airport is without question…The airport has already served other purposes and soon will start serving customers,” Togbe Afede said.

Togbe also called for patronage and reiterated his call for the establishment of a flight training and aircraft maintenance centre in Ho.

Describing the day as a dream come true, the visibly excited Togbe Afede said “Aside from the flights, we are going to build a Flight Training School here…and also an aircraft maintenance centre here. These will open up the region for economic growth”.

The Chief Operations Officer of Africa World Airlines and captain of the flight, Cpt. Kwesi Oteng the gathering that the flight was smooth and the route appeared convenient for commercial activities.

Togbe Afede called the people of the region to patronise the services of the airport and “make it lucrative so that other airlines like Passion Air will also join AWA in flying the route”.
