He pointed out that the condition and terms within the implementation of this project would equally cut across all the sixteen (16) existing regions in the country.

“We are not talking just about the construction of 19.2-kilometre road and that the road project which is six-lane start from Tema motorway roundabout to Accra Tetteh Quarshie interchange,” he stressed.

He maintained that the contract Multa Angle Construction Limited is currently on the site and that the government is in the process of finalizing a few i with him for the contractor to officially start the project and called for calm,  saying that there is no cause for alarm.

He insisted that”if you didn’t see road construction project machines on the site, that does not mean that nothing is happening at all on the road.”

The roads Minister mentioned that the contractor and his team are doing a lot of work to start the project of the six lane road.

He asserted that between Tema motorway round about to Tetteh Quarshie interchange, “one should see that the entire Accra Tema motorway had been urbanized to the extent that there lot of settlements on that stretch of the road.

“The contractor in here in Ghana means, he is here for us to finalizing a lot of things with him, because there is a number work on the project and its fundings and other things.

“We have some of the funding to be used on the project that is why l am saying that if you look at the scopes of the works on the project we want to make sure that we have enough funds for the project.

“Because if l tell you the scopes of the works the contractor and his team have started doing on the project, you make may happy,” he explained.

He pointed out that there are a lot of the congestion on the Tetteh Quarshie and Accra Tema Motorway stretch of the road which has become a major challenge to the contractor to start the work.

He noted that these challenges need time to fix them in order to ensure the remodelling of the Tetteh Quarshie interchange.

He pointed out that the time that they would complete the project, the current congestion situation would be minimized to ensure free movement of the vehicle in the area.

He said between Tema motorway round about and Tetteh Quarshie interchange, there have been designed to build the four interchange which is going to affect the Accra Shopping Mall.

He added that plan were underway for the government to redesign the existing Apankwa interchange which is a dual carriage road system flyover in Accra.

He indicated that it is part of the six-lane, 14-kilometre (8.7 mi) George Walker Bush Highway constructed under the Millennium Challenge Account.

He added that “If you look at the current modernisation design, four interchanges were within the design and it continues to Apankwa interchange which would link to Neoplan junction enclave near the famous Fieta Royale Hotel.

According to the Roads and Highways Minister, there is a road intersection at Fieta Royale Hotel and that place the government is going to build another interchange in order ease the traffic in the area.

He mentioned that construction of some major roads in Kumasi including Ketasi, Suame, Ahordzo, and Oforikrom Interchanges had reached advance stages for the starting of the construction of the projects in 2022 to improve the road networks infrastructural development in Kumasi metropolis and adjoining communities.
